Chrome Extension 101

The takeaway: After reading this, you’ll know the basics of the Chrome Extension.

The Chrome Extension brings the Engagement Engine directly into LinkedIn. You can build a brief from the LinkedIn profile or company you're already viewing. Your brief appears right alongside the profile in a sidebar.

Installing the extension

Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store. Once it's added to Chrome, the Habits icon will appear on the top right of your browser or in the extension page.

People briefs and company briefs

The extension works the same way for people and companies.

Open someone’s LinkedIn profile or a company page, and the extension will automatically detect it and show their name or company name. This creates a People Brief or Company Brief, respectively.

Add context

The Additional Context box lets you add anything you know that isn't on the LinkedIn profile.

You might add how you met, something they mentioned, or why you're reaching out now.

You can also use quick tags like Met at conference, Warm referral, or First touch to save time.

This is optional, but adding context can make your brief more useful.

Generate your brief

Click Generate Brief to create your brief.

You'll see three steps while it runs:

  • Extracting information
  • Creating outreach
  • Building your brief

It only takes a few seconds.

What’s in the brief

Once your brief is ready, you'll see several sections you can expand:

Snapshot: Key facts about the person, including their role, background, and relevant details.

Signals: Recent events or changes that could give you a timely reason to reach out.

Company: Helpful context about where they work, including company details and recent developments.

Outreach: Custom messaging to start the conversation based on what you know about them.

Meeting prep: Key things to know and questions to consider before a meeting.

Sources: The information used to build the brief, with links to the original sources for more reading.

Click any section to expand it. Once open, click Copy to copy the text and paste it into a message.

That's the whole process: Open a profile, add context if you have it, generate your brief, and start your outreach. Everything happens right inside LinkedIn.
